Olav Henrik Trent
Founder & Executive Chairman
Olav Henrik Trent is the founder of Valhalla Capital, a Norwegian alternative investment fund manager focused on public and private equity and special situations.
With more than eight years of professional experience across capital markets, investment analysis and portfolio construction, Trent has built Valhalla around disciplined capital allocation, fundamental research, risk management and active ownership. His investment approach combines long-term value creation with opportunistic positioning across listed and private markets.
Trent has been featured and quoted in international financial media, including Bloomberg and The Wall Street Journal, in relation to investments and market developments involving companies such as SpaceX and Binance. In a Bloomberg interview from Antwerp in September 2022, Trent reflected on his fund's involvement in SpaceX: "For me, it's just being able to be a part of it," noting that the fund was "the only Norwegian company involved in the space program." In The Wall Street Journal in June 2023, he commented on Binance during a period of heightened scrutiny: "We will continue to support them as they navigate these challenges."
For me, it's just being able to be a part of it.
In Norway, Trent has built a substantial media footprint, with more than 150 newspaper features, quotes and commentary contributions across leading financial publications, including Dagens Næringsliv and Finansavisen. His commentary has frequently focused on interest rates, monetary policy, central bank decisions and macroeconomic developments, areas that require both analytical depth and the ability to translate complex market dynamics into clear, timely perspectives.
Trent's early track record gained public attention when Finansavisen featured his 64.9 percent return in 2010. Since then, he has developed a multi-strategy investment approach across public markets, private investments and affiliated structures.
Today, Trent leads Valhalla's investment platform and related entities, including Valhalla I and Valhalla General Partner. His work focuses on identifying differentiated investment opportunities, supporting portfolio companies and building institutional investment structures with a long-term perspective. From central bank policy and rate-cycle analysis to public and private market opportunities, his focus is on building Valhalla into a disciplined, research-driven investment platform designed for long-term value creation.
